America, I'm inside you!

Good morning New Jersey. It feels really good to be back here, even though you're still a little bit cold. But you greeted me with the most gorgeous sunshine. Okay, let's start from the top, shall we. I got up at 5am, Monday, March 23rd. I was feeling well rested, excited and a tiny bit nervous. My good friend Klasi came to escort me to the airport so I would'nt have to deal with the anxiety on the bus. It really helped. I was distracted and the busride was pretty chill. We arrived at the airport at 8am and I checked my heavy bag. Everything was fine, no extra fees, everything had the correct size and I even was allowed to bring my hot water bottle with me on the plane. (my frozen body thanked me later on) Klasi and I were chilling a bit outside since there was still a lot of time til boarding.

There was this one situation that made us  laugh so hard. When we were outside, Klasi  was talking about different nationalities and  their urge to honk at people for no good  reason. He mentioned that in Scandinavia  people don't honk unless it's necessary and  how Germans just honk ALL THE TIME for  bullshit reason. The second he finished the  sentence some dude behind us honked like an  asshole. It was such good timing. We had a  good laugh.
Then it was time to say goodbye. I went  through security and kept looking for  something to drink and a pack of gum. There  were three shops which were WAY  overprized. I paid 3,40€ for a tiny bottle (0,5l)  of water. The gum with 1,40€ was okay.
After that it was just waiting around, going to  the bathroom a thousand times. I was  surprised how calm I was. I knew I was gonna  get a nice seat (at the emergency exit, extra  legroom) for the first flight. When I boarded I  was very disappointed. I wasn't sitting by  myself and the "extra legroom" is a total rip  off. You have like 3 inches more. Not worth 20€. I told the stewardess that I have a couple phobias and I might get really nervous. She was very kind and gave me another seat. Actually two seats. I felt really good about that even tho the 20€ for the "extra legroom" seat went to shit. We took off shortly after that and I was surpised how much I actually enjoyed it. No idea why I was so scared, I mean I flew before and I never really had trouble. It was a chill flight to Amsterdam.

We arrived early and my first thought was "I need to find a place to smoke" , which wasn't as easy as you might think. Eventually I found a smoking lounge, which was even close to my gate. I bought another overprized baverage and went through passport control. I was a bit surprised to see that people were already boarding. I had almost two hours waiting time. Where the F are my two hours. I had to go through another security check and they told me I can't bring my water bottle, which I didn't really understand. I chugged the water and had the security check. I had to show them all my electronic devices, which was hilarious cause I was carrying a laptop + charger, phone + charger, Camera + charger and a PS Vita + charger. It was a massive amount of fun to put it all back =/ So I boarded and I knew I wasn't gonna sit by myself but at least I got an aisle seat. I told the flight attendant about my phobias and she walked me to my seat and helped me with everything. I sat down and immediatly started talking to my new plane buddy.

I could'nt have been luckier. This guy travels A LOT for work. I flies a ton and he secured me that of all the billion times he spent on a plane he never had a problem. This man was THE SWEETEST guy, We shared our food, cracked some jokes and even when this woman was throwing up he helped calming me down. He gave me some tips on how to REALLY drink Whiskey and told me a bit about all the places he's been and what he experienced. We really had a good time and I can say that this was one of the most fun flights I've ever had. We had a bit of a turbulence going on a couple times and people got sick but it all worked out. When we reached mainland my face started to light up, at least my flight buddy said so. Btw I feel bad that I didn't even ask for his name. When we got closer to Newark I transformed into a fullblown grinning machine. Landing was a bit shaky but that's okay. I was way to excited to focus on that anyway. Then came the passport check. It was BULLSHIT. The line was just humoungous.I spent almost one hour until it was my turn and the guy just grilled me. He wanted to know so many things and was confused by the fact that I am staying for over a month just because of a wedding. Well when he gave me the green light he actually smiled. I was good to go. Nicole waited for me and it was so good to see her.

We went grocerie shopinng right after which is always fun for me cause the US has so much cool stuff and it's not as expensive as in Germany. I probably said "OMG that's so cheap overhere" a thousand times. They had funny looking fruit I have never seen before. You can see some of them here.

After an hour of grocerie shopping and $160 lighter we went to the McDonalds Drive Thru and got my all so desired Oreo McFlurry.

We aka John made tacos for dinner and we had mimosas. I didn't get a picture of tacos cause I was starving and mine was gone faster than you can say "Lämmerschwänzchen".
After dinner I took a very relaxing bath and went to bed at 10.30pm US time, 3.30am German time.

I woke up at 6.30am US time to a gorgeous sunrise.

Feels good to be back.
I appologize to everyone I didn't text during the flight, I didn't get the mobile pass after all cause I didn't even need the extra distraction. I'm gonna get my US phone number today, so you will hear from me.
Talk to you soon
